Talking Heads Therapies Explained

So how can we benefit from talking therapies? The Greek word for sleep is hypno and hypnotherapy encompasses the different types of sleep through their restful states. Some experts argue that hypnotherapy goes back to as early as Egyptian times. So what is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy ...

Hypnotherapy focuses on cycles per second brainwave activity, the more alert we are the higher the cycles per second and more relaxed we are the slower the cycles per second. For instance, when we are asleep at night our brain wave cycles per second can be around 4. When fully alert, cycles per second can be as high as 24. Hypnotherapy uses relaxation techniques, that reduces the brainwave cycles per second activity, so that we can enter into an enjoyable relaxed state of mind. When this occurs, our conscious internal dialogue becomes switched off. Now the client and the therapist can work together using hypnotherapy to investigate the root cause of the symptoms, by communicating with the unconscious area of the brain, which houses all our experiences and memories and in a deeply focused way, using the unconscious minds own language to reprogram certain experiences and memories in a safe and secure way. There are several techniques used to accomplish this, including waking hypnosis techniques, also known as neurolinguistic programming (NLP), working with our natural sensory perceptions; vision, sight, smell, touch, and taste. Clients are also taught the most appropriate self hypnosis techniques.

EMDR ...

EMDR is another technique, highly respected among the medical profession and psychotherapists alike. Once again it involves the hippocampus, the amygdala, synaptics and neural responses in the brain. We have in fact two types of memory, emotional memory and objective memory. By using bilateral stimulation, i.e. both sides of the brain, we can help emotionally painful and unwanted memories, to become objective memories, getting rid of those big black clouds we carry over our heads. Scientifically, eye movement desensitisation reprogramming (EMDR) has proven to be a highly successful treatment for post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), allowing us to make sense of how our experiences of trauma can so badly affect the mind and body.

Counselling & Psychotherapy ...

Counselling and psychotherapy is all about life and environment. Feeling, thoughts, perceptions and the experience of things, what life really is and means. It’s about the changes that need to be made. It's about listening to and understanding what's truly important to you. It's about your right to make the choices to work with hypnotherapy, counselling, psychotherapy, NLP & EMDR to help understand who you are and behave. Using several models of psychotherapy, these can be used to help analyse and make vital connections from the past and the present, changing your way forward into your future. This is achieved traditionally, in the confidential setting of the therapy room or online for counselling & hypnotherapy. Current research shows us that secure online counselling via a webcam in the comfort of your own home, has equally beneficial and therapeutic results.

Using talking therapies can help to control and often even eliminate self-limiting beliefs, unwanted behaviours, disturbing emotions and a multitude of physical symptoms and poor health. It can enhance improved performance, bring clearer focus and thinking, improved decision-making, show us the value of healthy relationships and improve our communications and an overall better understanding of ourselves and the many choices we have in life.
